The Magic 7 CSR Summit is an annual national conference held to provide 7 solutions to the 7 problems of 7 key areas, as highlighted in the different areas underlined in the Schedule VII of the Companies Act 2013. This Summit is a flagship event organized by Wockhardt Foundation.
With numerous NGOs present, it can get difficult to choose one as an implementation partner for a company’s CSR policy. Consequently, the credibility of the NGO is under the scanner. Furthermore, the company is questioned on its sustainability practices and their feasibility for the community at large. With such uncertainties looming, networking among the prospective implementation partners for proactive CSR projects gets crucial. For that to materialize into something constructive, there needs to be effective dialogue. The Magic 7 CSR Summit offers an innovative networking approach that makes sure that Industry and the CSR implementation partners find the correct match.
The Summit will have seven panel discussions Education, Healthcare, Water and Sanitation, Skill Development, Social Innovations, Digital India and Social Business.
The Magic 7 CSR Summit, with its innovative approach to tackle CSR along the overarching sub-themes would help to initiate numerous industry collaborations that will wire companies in a manner that will guide them through their CSR initiatives, and in the process make sure that life wins.
This power packed one-day summit will take place in Mumbai on 7 September 2017. The major pillars of this one-day summit are:
Ever since the changes in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) provisions of the Companies Act, 2013, the business outlook in India is changing. Their priorities are changing. They are widening from 1 P to 3Ps by the inclusion of People, Planet and Profit. The triple bottom line focuses on generating profits in a way that is better for both people and the planet. CSR is no longer a philanthropic approach, but rather is a strategic business decision that can have a diverse impact on a company's growth. In spite of having corporates like Tata’s and Infosys engaging in CSR initiatives, CSR in India is at a very nascent stage. In the informal sector of the Indian economy, which contributes to almost half of the GNP and where approximately 93 percent of the Indian workforce is employed, the application of CSR is rare. Consequently, CSR has become essential for businesses to be sustainable in a dynamic environment. Ergo, due to the need and looking at the present stage of CSR activities of corporates in India, we feel there is a need for more collaborations that impact the community in larger ways so that we can make sure that at the end of the day life wins. This is the philosophy upon which the Magic 7 CSR Summit was born.
Presently in India, it is hard for one sole entity to bring about change, as the gauge is vast. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA), a national campaign by the Government of India, seeks to achieve the goal of Clean India in next five years. We need to make Mahatma Gandhi’s wish of making India - A clean and hygienic India come true by working proactively. This can only be done if the corporates, PSUs, NGO players and other implementation partners, along with the governmental bodies act in unison. Organizations have the know-how, strategic thinking, manpower, and financial strength to enable widespread social transformation. Operative partnerships between corporations, NGOs and the government will place India's social development on a progressive mode. This is one of the main aims and foundation of the Magic 7 CSR Summit 2017.
The vision of the Magic 7 CSR Summit 2017 is to renovate and redesign the lives of people in India by facilitating and providing better education, healthcare, water, livelihood, sanitation, skill development and a cleaner environment for people across age groups and across income strata, by means of increased collaborations between industry and CSR implementation partners. The efficiency of these CSR project rests on effective implementation and enhanced interconnectivity amongst the players in this CSR ecosystem. This connectivity will be generated through the Magic 7 CSR Summit.
